REMOTE TRAVEL IN THE GRAN CHACO OF BOLIVIA

NEW EXPEDITION TO PALMAR DE LAS ISLAS IN KAA IYA NATIONAL PARK

From the 29th June  - 4 July we partook in an expedition to explore remote areas of the rarely visited Kaa Iya National Park. During the tour we would visit regular areas of Kaa Iya National Park where we have frequent sightings of Jaguars and Pumas, however the aim of the trip was to explore new routes in the Gran Chaco for tourism.

From the first drive we had incredible moments with a sighting of a large Puma, in additon we also saw multiple Tapir , Armadillos and Two Ocelots.

Most interesting was the discovery of a freshly killed Tapir by a Jaguar, we waited 11 hours however as the winds were very strong the Jaguar didnt return until after we had departed. We set up a camera trap and will recover the footage in the coming week.

We departed towards Rio Blanco Park Rangers station and along the way had great sighting of a Yellow footed fox and sadly many signs of hunters entering areas of the Park.

For the next few days we explored new areas of the Park including extremely remote areas of the Park, we were greeting with an amazing Puma sighting, amazing landscapes and many signs of Jaguar in the region.

Overall we had an amazing expedition to new areas of Kaa Iya National Park and are very excited for returning in the near future to explore more areas of this incredible Bolivian Wilderness area.

The best Jungle experience in Bolivia

KAA IYA NATIONAL PARK AND BOLIVIAN PANTANAL TOUR DECEMBER 2018

On December 17th 2018 we embarked on our expedition to visit two of the least visted National Parks in Bolivia which are called Kaa Iya National Park and Otuquis National Park in the Bolivian Pantanal.
The mission was to observe the iconic mammals and reptiles of these incredible regions which include the Jaguar,Tapir and Anaconda.

During the first part of the trip we explored Kaa Iya National Park, sadly as it was the wet season , we had no luck with the Jaguar however we saw a record 10 Tapirs which is an incredible amount. To put this in perspective , i recently spent 16 days in the most part of Madidi National Park and didnt see a single Tapir. We also saw Geoffreys Cat, 9 Banded Armadillo ,Brocket deer, Macaws, Toucans and more.

After weather affected our Kaa iya section we departed to the Bolivian Pantanal and almost instantly we had success with the amazing sighting of a large Yellow Anaconda.

We explored the rest of the day and had excellent sightings of Capybara, Caimans and best of all an amazing Armadillo as we were leaving the park.

Overall another fantastic Kaa iya and Pantanal Tour completed and very happy quests. For more information about our wildlife watching tours to Kaa Iya and the Pantanal contact us today

CLOSE UP JAGUAR SIGHTING IN KAA IYA NATIONAL PARK

AMAZING JAGUAR SIGHTING IN THE KAA IYA NATIONAL PARK

July 2018, we returned to Kaa iya National Park with a repeat client, the aim to observe the majestic Jaguar in its natural environment.

The first few days proved challenging, we saw little tracks or wildlife in general, with the highlights being Crab eating foxes, Brocket Deer and an endless amount of birds. During a night drive we also came close to a pair of Tapirs however they didnt come into sight.

We continued to search for signs of Jaguars untill we stumbled upon some fresh tracks, just a few hours old they were in a clear direction and with this imformation we proceeded the next day with renewed confidence.

We timed our safari drive to perfection and on the 3rd day in the afternoon we caught a speck of a large animal on the road. From experience we knew what to do in this situation and calmly turned off the car engine and waited for the Jaguar to come to us -  thankfully this Jaguar was a large male and it didnt even notice our presence so we were able to observe this Jaguar for over 45 minutes.

During the Kaa Iya National Park tour we also observed Grey Brocket Deer, Skunk, Agoutis, Crab Eating Foxes, 3 banded Armadillos and over 70 species of birds.
